FROST PROTECTION OF FODDER SILOS
There can be reason to frost protect fodder silos in order to avoid freezing as a result of damp inside the silo.
The damp can result in an increased amount of mould in the fodder, problems to take out fodder from the silo and in the pressure disk which compresses the fodder from above wedging in the inner side of the silo.
The problem can be solved by installing heating cable, 20W/m c/c 300mm, on the outside of the silo. The heating cables are fixed with mounting strips and connected through a thermostat with a sensor fitted to the silo between two cable runs.
