Microprocessor-based control unit for snow / ice melting on ground surfaces, ceilings and other surfaces where icing and frost causes inconvenience. The system closes a contact to switch the heating system when the precipitation falls within an adjustable temperature zone. The heating is switched out when the surface has dried, the unit is adjustable to the heating time for the compensation of unsuccessful placement of sensors. Sensors are available for installation in ground surfaces walked on by pedestrians / vehicles, and roof surfaces and other surfaces that are not exposed to mechanical stress.

Programming the unit is done in the easy menu system that appears on a display, this is also where the device status can be read.

General function description
The de-icing controller 1773 is a programmable controller which is suitable for many applications where protection against icing are needed.
This tpe of regulator can save 30-40% energy compared with a conventional thermostat.
The saving consists in addition to measuring temperature, measuring rainfall / frost on or directly adjacent to the surface to be protected against icing.
The sensors are of a type where instead of measuring the conductivity between two shiny metal conductors heat up the sensor at regular intervals (about 25 minutes) and measure the cooling of the sensor for detecting any precipitation. This type of measurement gives a good reliability for minimal maintenance.
When connecting two sensors the system starts when any of the sensors detects humidity and preset temperature range for operation and continues until both sensors are dry.
The active temperature range is +5 – -25°C, which includes the temperature range when the precipitation falls and there is slipping hazard. Can be adjusted in the Configuration menu. At ground facilities 1- 2 ground sensors Type 3352 with brass sleeve (must be used in asphalting) or 3353 without mounting sleeve, is used.
